Happy Kazakhstan Independence Day!

Did you know that the United States was the first country in the world to recognize Kazakhstan’s independence? On December 16, 1991 Kazakhstan became the last Soviet republic to declare itself an independent country. Since then the country has worked to develop its economy and international prestige. It is now considered to be the dominant state in Central Asia and is a member of several international organizations. It is the ninth largest country in the world and is ethnically and culturally diverse with 131 nationalities and a population of 16.4 million of whom 67% are Kazakhs.
